The Belfast Dog Park

Open from dawn to dusk, the Belfast Dog Park is at Walsh Field, on Lincolnville Avenue just off Route 1, next to the real estate office of Jaret and Cohn. It is free and open to the public.

The dog park was created by Friends of Belfast Parks and members of the community as a gift to the city, its dog owners, and their dogs.

In September 2007, the Belfast City Council approved the location of an offleash dog park at Walsh Field, and in August 2008 the park opened—one of more than 700 off-leash recreation areas in the country.

Doug's dog Wendy is known at the dog park as "The Mayor," because she's a peacemaker and friend to all.

Fundraiser yields $1653

On November 28-29 volunteers raised $1653 toward the beautiful new pavilion at the dog park. Thanks to all who contributed!!  Jim Shaver is doing a magnificent job building the shelter, and we also thank our friends at Viking Lumber for the discounted materials.

But, we still need a bit more. If you haven't had the chance to contribute, please send your check to Dale Kuhnert, Treasurer, Friends of Belfast Parks, P.O.Box 947, Belfast, Maine 04915 (make checks payable to Friends of Belfast Parks).  We thank you in advance!

We remind you that contributions to the shelter are tax deductible.

The dog park looks cared for because of volunteers such as this.

Maintenance Work Day
at the dog park

We do maintenance work from 9 a.m to 11 a.m., every second Saturday of the month.

Please come and help us keep the dog park looking spiffy. Bring your work gloves (it's probably best to leave your dog at home), and show up some time between nine and eleven.

Hope to see you there!

Next maintenance day:

Saturday, December 13, 2008

9 - 11 a.m.

We still need your help. We need $385 to reach
our goal for Phase I.

Please consider making a tax deductible donation to the Belfast Dog Park. Click to the right on the Pay Pal "Donate" button and proceed. Thank you!
