Ave Maris Stella is a midcoast-based a cappella, early music vocal ensemble. Membership is by audition.

Ave Maris Stella strives to bring unusual a cappella choral music to Maine audiences, with more familiar works by such renowned composers as Byrd, Dufay, Monteverdi, Palestrina, and Josquin also forming a large part of the group's wide ranging repertoire. While the focus is on early music, the ensemble has recently delved into appropriate settings by contemporary composers such as Lajos Bàrdos, Arvo Pärt, Francis Poulenc, and Maurice Duruflé .

Founded early in this century, Ave Maris Stella has performed as part of the St. Margaret's Church music series in Belfast and at various venues around Maine including Merrill Auditorium in Portland, the General Henry Knox Mansion (Thomaston), the Camden Opera House, Elan Fine Arts in Rockport, St. Denis Catholic Church in Whitefield, and as part of the Rockland Public Library’s music series.

Ave Maris Stella translates to "Hail Star of the Sea," fitting for a group based in midcoast Maine. The group is unusual in that it is collectively run. The singers share the responsibility of bringing music selections to the group, and also take turns at teaching and leading. Membership is by audition.
